Book and Paper Exposition and Sale
Marianne Peter Papers Are Here & For Sale!
I am pleased to announce the arrival of french hand marbled papers. I am the exclusive US distributor of Marianne Peter’s papers. There is a large variety of colors and motifs, and all of the papers are impressive, to say the least. Prices range from $20-$30. Please come by to see them for yourself.
Below are some samples of the papers that are available. Please note that these details represent a 8″ x 11.5″ portion of each paper. Papers usually measure 18″ x 27″.
To visit Sonya Sheats Bookbinding or to order papers, please contact me here.
Once again, these images represent only one portion of the entire sheet of marbled paper.
Louis Boston and the Waterfront View
This past weekend, I was at Louis Exposure, an event held at Louis Boston on Fan Pier that showcases 5 new designers each weekend until the end of the year. Honestly, the best part of the weekend was the view from the shop and the company of the other designers. I had a great time sampling the scents made by D.S. & Durga, from Brooklyn, NY, and was saved by my conversations with the folks of Fort Makers, a creative collective also based in Brooklyn.
I was so lucky to have had Morgan with me to set up. She is a pro at these sorts of events and just has an altogether amazing sense of design. On top of all that, she showers me with encouragement and support, and has been a huge part of my work over these last four months.
And when the sun went down, it was quite a shift. To the left of my stand were Fort Makers, who paint on silk and then turn their compositions into dresses and scarves. To the left of them were D.S. & Durga. My favorite? Siberian Snow.
I am happy to be back in the bindery. Everything is unpacked, I doubled the size of the paper ladder that holds my large format papers, and I am at work on a stack of un-sewn books. The press is waiting and ready.
Until next time,
Sonya
Pop Up Shop At Louis Boston This Weekend
Good news/Bad news this week, as is the tradition I will let you know the bad news first. Unfortunately the open house that was scheduled for this Saturday the 11th had to be canceled (sorry wine and cheese lovers.) We are looking at dates in January to reschedule and will let you know as soon was we settle on one.
Now the good news, the cancellation was due to a wonderful opportunity that I am taking advantage of at Louis Boston.
Louis Exposure is a series of pop-up shops that showcases new designers and businesses over the course of the holiday season and they have invited us to participate. I’ll be there this Saturday from 11-7pm and Sunday from 12-5pm taking orders and selling books. The shop is located at 60 Northern Ave., right next to the ICA so if you are in the neighborhood, swing by and check it out.
Recent and Exciting News
It has been some time since I wrote and things have been progressing nicely in the bindery. Here is a little rundown of what I’ve been doing (and up until now not telling you about):
The fantastic Repeat Press came through with some wonderful new business cards that will end up in the hands of everyone I meet, not just for the bindery but because they came out so well.
Those cards saw a lot of action at the Boston International Antiquarian Book Fair where I met with area book enthusiasts and spoke with a ton of book dealers. As always it was a successful well organized event that spurs me on in my work.
With the holidays coming into full swing now is the time to contact me about custom journals. At any level of specificity, I can provide a unique and special gift for anyone in your life. More information here.
And now for the exciting news, on December 11th the bindery will have its first ever open house! Wine and cheese and books, is there a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon? More information to come as the event approaches, hope to see you there (or I guess here?).
Until next time,
Sonya
